7 Tips to Keep Your Sea Lion paddleboard in Tip-top Shape

If you own an inflatable paddleboard, then you know all too well the importance of keeping it in good condition. Even if your board is only used a few times a year, there are still some things to be mindful of. Proper care will ensure that your board stays in great shape for years to come. Here are seven tips to keep your inflatable paddleboard in tip-top shape.

1. Clean it - with fresh water!

Cleaning your inflatable board is the first thing you should do before storing it away for the winter or after use. The best way to clean it is with fresh water and a mild soap solution. Use a soft brush or sponge and scrub all that muck away!

2. Dry it!

You should dry your board after every use and before storing it over a weekend or even over the winter season. A wet board can lead to mold and mildew that could damage it over time. The best way to dry your board quickly is to put it on a sunny, warm day and let the sun do the work for you (deflated boards only)

3. Keep out of direct sunlight

When inflated, don’t leave your board in the sun if you can help it and if you can’t deflate it slightly. When air gets hot, it expands and with the board being at high pressure already, you don’t want the pressure going over the Max PSI of your board as it could pop!

4. Protect it from UV light.

UV light can cause damage to the plastic on your board. Make sure to store it in a shaded area, as well as use a cover if you plan to keep it inflated. If deflated, your board bag will do the trick!

5. Store in a dry location

If your inflatable paddleboard is left in a moist or humid environment, it could effect the glue in time. In fact, storing your board in a cool and dry location will not only increase its lifespan but also reduce the potential for mold growth.

6. Keep away from sharp objects

This may seem obvious for an inflatable product, but it is worth noting!

7. Get it serviced!

At Sea Lion we offer a service with our boards and this service includes a full deep clean including scuff removal, UV Protection, a complete valve service, a complete pressure test and seam checks.

We want your boards to last for as long as they can therefore follow these tips to make it happen!
